Andrew Stark Talks About Life, Legacy & Lemoore.
Recently, the World Surf League (WSL) announced the appointment of Andrew Stark as its General Manager for Australia & Oceania. For the last 10-years Andrew Stark was CEO of Surfing Australia and led the organization through a period of quantum change, transforming the business model from a purely not for profit association to a multi-faceted business with upto 65% of Surfing Australia’s $7million turnover derived from commercial revenue.
The announcement was somewhat of a shock given Surfing Australia's $10m High Performance Centre redevelopment is still in progress and because Stark will exit the organisation less than two years before surfing debut's at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Controversially, instead of leading Surfing Australia on the 'pathway to the podium' in Tokyo, Stark announced he will lead the WSL in the Australia & Oceania Region as well as the development of the very first Kelly Slater Wave Pool here in Australia. Stark describes that decision as "the toughest of his life"
