ASB MAGAZINE: Globe announced the official launch of Low Velocity Issue 02. The third instalment in an evolving program that sees the brand making continued progress in their sustainability goals – crafting eco-aware apparel that is comfortable and designed to last.

As a brand built and run by skateboarders, surfers and snowboarders, the environment has always been important to the people of Globe. But it hasn’t always been at the core of their decision-making as a business. Low Velocity is a significant part of how the brand are correcting that imbalance – and generating greater sustainability in their offering of footwear, apparel and skate hardgoods.

Sustainably sourced fibres, such as recycled nylons and 100% organically grown cotton, feature throughout Issue 02 – alongside Repreve® polyester recycled from plastic bottles, and COCOTEX® polyester that has been upcycled from waste coconut husks.

PVC & phthalate-free inks have been used to create each printed design, and PFOA-free Durable Water Repellent features in garments such as the Prime Down Jacket and Foundation Pant – used enhance their comfort and longevity without the use of potentially toxic chemicals. All Low Velocity garments have been rigorously tested for fit, function and durability over an extended period by our global team of skaters and surfers.

On the announcement of Issue 02, and the improvements the brand has made, Matt Wong, President – Global Product has said: “Low Velocity represents progress for us. This is a marathon, not a sprint. And we’re proud of the steady momentum we’re building as a brand.”

Low Velocity Issue 02 also features a capsule designed in collaboration with Monster Children. This limited-edition collaboration, entitled ‘Refuse to Comply’, features the artwork of Brooklyn-based band PC Worship’s frontman, and multi-disciplinary artist, Justin Frye. And is also available from today alongside the core Low Velocity Issue 02 collection.

Low Velocity Issue 02 is available now online and in retail stores across Australia, North America and Europe. For more information on Globe’s Low Velocity range, see here.
