ASB MAGAZINE: The Australian Adaptive Surfing Team will have their sights set on team’s gold at the 2018 Stance International Surfing Association (ISA) World Adaptive Surfing Championships in La Jolla, California on December 12th. After finishing with a team’s silver medal in 2017, the Australian Adaptive Surfing Team will be setting the bar higher than ever, using the success of the likes of World Adaptive Surfing Champion Barney Miller as inspiration.

Boasting five current World Adaptive Surfing Championship medallists in Mark Stewart(Bronze medallist), Amanda Jane(Bronze medallist) David Munk(Bronze medallist), Barney Miller(Gold medallist) and Matt Formston(Gold medallist), the team will be confident heading to the United States.

The Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship was created to give surfers with physical challenges an opportunity to compete and display their talents in a Paralympic-style, world-class competition. The event has experienced unprecedented growth since the inaugural edition in 2015 and has spurred the growth of the sport around the world, with nations such as France, Australia, Chile, Brazil, USA, Hawaii and South Africa holding National Championships of their own to select their National Teams to compete.
