ASB MAGAZINE: – Smith Optics, a  global leading eyewear and headwear protection brand for over 56 years recently announced their new Australian subsidiary, SMITH Australia. Today the company announced the addition of standout surfing star, Molly Picklum, to its regional athlete roster. The multi-year eyewear partnership further celebrates an explosive year for Picklum and her 2021 victories at the Sisstrevolution Central Coast Pro, Oakberry Tweed Coast Pro, and Great Lakes Pro competitions.

Born on the Central Coast, New South Wales, the 18-year-old rising star now resides in Shelly Beach, NSW since starting her professional surfing career in 2017. Picklum will debut her partnership with SMITH at the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, CA this week, before competing in the World Surf League Challenger Series throughout Europe and Hawaii later this year.

“I am excited to join the SMITH family and work with a global brand who are the best at what they do,” said Picklum. “I spend my life being active and exploring the outdoors – whether I’m on the beach after a surf, fishing or just enjoying being outside; SMITH sunglasses look great and are the best to support my performance. I can’t wait to do some cool projects together and help grow the brand in Australia and beyond.”

Tom Edgar, Marketing Manager for SMITH Australia, is also excited to see the partnership bloom over the coming years. “We truly believe Molly is the future of surfing and we love her bubbly and affable nature as well as her passion for the outdoors. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with her and can’t wait to ride through this journey with her as she sets her sights at qualifying and ultimately claiming a title.”
