ASB MAGAZINE: The best surfers from Bali turned up to compete in the first ever Team’s Challenge of its kind on the island. The Billabong Bali Team’s Challenge was as grassroots as a local surf comp gets. 8 clubs from all over Bali flocked to the wave starved coastline of Canggu hoping to be the first ever boardriders champions. The boys showed up in force, not only the 5 surfers in each club but all the boys in each club. It was great to see such great support for their team and their chance to earn themselves the first prize which not only was the bragging rights as the best boardriders club in Bali, but a huge 30 Million Rupiah.
Huge congratulations to Kuta Halfway Boardriders who took first place in the first ever Billabong Bali Teams Challenge. They were greeted with a huge surprise, being handed the winner’s prize by current world number 2, Italo Ferreira and former World Champion Joel Parkinson who were in town for the WSL Corona Bali Pro-tectected CT event.
As the sun set, it was time to head straight from the sand to The Lawn Canggu for the after party, which has been since called the party of the year. The biggest turn out they have ever had with thousands of people partying well into the early hours of the night. For those all there, it was a night which will not be forgotten anytime soon!
