Beau Cram is the Sydney chippie who is perhaps the most relatable O’Riginal yet.

A bloke who works the tools to save money for his next surf jaunt and to somewhere with big hollow pits. His is a story familiar to many of us. That is, until you realise he’s also the son of former Top10 power mongrel Richard Cram. The same Cram who melted people’s face’s off with his epic cutties in the iconic 80s surf film, The Performers. Check 1 min 50sec. “Having a Dad that fucken rips it to pieces is pretty nice!, ” says Beau.

Yet Beau is the modern day nomad, doing things his way, on his terms. Logs, finless, barrels, hacks and airs, there’s no one move that defines him. No boundaries.

As O’Neill’s Rob Bain observes; “The O’Riginals series is few things really. It’s a tip of the hat to Jack, it supports our O’Riginals product pillar, but never to the point where its rammed down someone’s throat. My aim is always to keep it real and authentic. And if it gives  crew an insight into how wonderful surfing really is, then job done. Each of the surfers stories is vastly different to the next, but they’re real crew, living real lives,” says Bainy.

O’Neill’s latest instalment neatly fits into the lap of  what marketing guru Simon Sinek preaches and that is people don’t buy what you do, but why you do it. In the 6mins 30sec of Beau’s clip, you’d be hard pressed to spot a logo or product placement throughout.

That in itself was a refreshing change.
