ASB MAGAZINE: Outgoing SurfStitch GM Justin Hillberg announced today significant changes at SurfStitch. Hillberg says these changes are designed to best position SurfStitch for the key Spring/Summer period and for the next phase of its corporate life.

“The 2021 Financial Year was a transformational and pivotal year for SurfStitch and the team has created a solid profitable base we can now build on. The focus for SurfStitch from here is consolidating the success of 2021 and achieving meaningful growth into 2022 and beyond,” said Justin Hillberg.

SurfStitch is restructuring the business to ensure the customer facing functions of the business have increased focus, resources, and support. The restructure will involve separating the Merchandise and Marketing departments, led by Gabby Bate, Rachelle Burroughs and Dane Patterson, from the back-end support departments. The company today announced a new General Manager of SurfStich.

“Kerry Cusack will be joining the team as GM of SurfStitch to lead this team. Previously Kerry was Founder and GM of Bondi Bather, a business she launched into Europe and the USA, and sold to the ASX listed PAS Group before going on to run both Bondi Bather and Jets Swimwear as Group GM. More recently, Kerry was Head of International Business at Retail Apparel Group (RAG),” Hillberg told

The balance of the SurfStitch business will continue to report to Justin Hillberg in the newly created role as MD Shared Services for Alquemie Group.  SurfStitch support functions will transfer to Alquemie Group Shared Services over time.

“We’re entering an important period for Alquemie Group as we continue to navigate the impact of the pandemic, including ongoing lockdowns, whilst we also continue to explore growth opportunities, both organic and acquisitions, “continued Hillberg.

“SurfStitch is a key part of the Alquemie Group, and we appreciate the important role our partners play in helping us achieve continued success.”
