ASB MAGAZINE: Nikon Australia is delighted to announce the finalists for the annual Nikon Surf Photo and Video of the Year Awards. Held in partnership with Surfing Australia, the industry-recognised awards provide a national platform to celebrate the work of local surf photographers and videographers.
In its ninth year running, the submissions were judged by a panel of thirteen high-profile individuals within the surfing industry, including seven-time World Surfing Champion and Nikon Brand Ambassador Stephanie Gilmore. The judges were tasked with selecting the best of the best surfing photos and videos submissions based on the below criteria:
- Innovation and creativity
- Dramatic effect and sensory impact
- Uniqueness
- Composition of the panel

The top three finalists of the Nikon Surf Video of the Year Award include:
- Spencer Frost – A Corner of the Earth
- Tom Jennings – SPIRIT, Starring Jay Davies
- Andrew Kaineder – FIRST NAME IN THE WATER | RUSS BIERKE | 90
The Nikon Surf Photo and Video of the Year award winners will be announced on 5 May 2021. The winner of both categories will take home a new Nikon Z 6II and NIKKOR Z 24 – 70 f/4 S lens.
