ASB MAGAZINE: Dane Reynolds has signed with Buell Wetsuits and Surf Inc. to codesign and launch a personalised line of suits. The collection will initially offer 2 styles and will be made available at Buell stockists and Buell’s website early Spring 2021. The partnership gives Reynolds creative control of the new line of wetsuits which will be called ‘Subdivision’ and leverages Buell’s 20+ years of design expertise. According to Buell, the DR1 is for anyone looking for a wetsuit that is functional yet stylish, low key, warm and flexible.
Commenting on the launch, Dane said; “It’s been a pleasure working with Buell, the samples are insane! It started with Buell picking my brain about what I want out of a wetsuit and the DR1 is exactly that.”
Buell Founder Ryan Buell was enthusiastic about partnering with one of the world’s greatest free surfers.
“My internal thermometer is about to explode. We’re talking about Dane Reynolds, the single most influential surfer of the millennium, the best free surfer of all-time. Working with Dane on his own model wetsuit has been nuts. He knows his equipment. He knows what he wants and it’s refreshing. We’ve been tweaking it together to make it just right. The DR1 could easily be the DR17 with how many different versions we’ve made. Dane Reynolds fans will be the real benefactors as the end result, DR1 is fierce, all black and all Dane.”
Buell are making their mark here in Australia, recently appointing Ethan Harbison as the company’s Australian distributor. The DR1 Subdivision range will be available March next year. Harbison says that their first stock will land in Australia at the end of the month with their website ready to launch around the same time.
“Signing Dane is massive for us, he’s one of the most influential and marketable surfers of all time! I cannot wait for what the future holds for Dane and Buell,” Harbison told ASBMAG.
