ASB MAGAZINE:

Last night at the Twin Towns Theatre the who’s who of surfing gathered for the Gold Coast screening of “Andy Irons: Kissed by God”. The film is currently on a national roadshow thanks to Surfing World magazine and has attracted ‘sold out’ shows for several of the tour locations. Remaining dates include tonight’s screening at Avoca as well as Melbourne on August 7th. Aside from being a multiple world and triple crown champion and global surfing icon, Andy also had bipolar disorder, often known as manic-depressive disorder. The film invokes conversations on once-taboo topics of addiction and mental illness. But Lyndie Irons has gone a step further to support the discussion, launching the Andy Irons Foundation. Their mission is to celebrate the legacy of Andy through providing vital, innovative, and uplifting programs for young people struggling with mental illness, substance abuse, and learning disabilities.
